A little about the area
Cortijo Piedra is an excellent base for a range of activities from sight seeing to golfing, mountain walking and cycling. Here are some other things close by that may keep you busy.
The Beaches
There are many lovely beaches along the coast on the Costa del Sol some only a 30 min drive away. Lake Iznajar is only 20min away and has a few sandy beaches as well.
The Golf
Antequera golf course is 30 min away .This is an 18 hole par 72 course with amazing views over El Torcal. There are many more courses on the coast 40 minutes away.
The Skiing
Cortijo Piedra is 1 hour 20 minutes drive from the wonderful and famous Sierra Nevadas, where you can ski or snow board from November through to April.
Spanish Lessons
Available close by from lovely spanish teacher.

The Nearest Airport
Malaga airport is 40 minutes drive and Granada airport 30 min drive both with excellent access roads.
The Bars and Restaurants
You may just want to take it easy and live the Spanish life for a week or two. Villaneuva del Trabuco is our nearest little town, 5 minutes drive away with many tapas bars and restaurants. Some of the restaurants nearby offer three-course "menu del dia" lunches.
The Shopping
Wine is cheap and of good quality. Local olives are big and juicy. On Wednesday, there is a street market in the village near the river.There are lots of local shops in Villaneuva del Trabuco where you can by gifts or souvenirs. However if you want a full days shopping it's best to visit some of the great shopping malls in Malaga where you will find Mango, Zara and hundreds of other high street stores. If you wish to shop this is the place to be!
Day Visits
You may want to go further afield, here are some areas you may want to explore that are still not to far. Cordoba with its famous Holy Cathedral, a former Mosque of Cordoba is 1 hour 10 min by car. Antiquera with lots of interesting architecture is only 25min drive and the bullring is well worth a visit. Malaga is also a very interesting city only 30 min by car and has a wonderful Cathedral and bullring.
Day trips could also include Seville (180km), Cordoba (140km) and Granada (70km) with its world famous Alhambra Palace and gardens. Gibraltar is around 2 hrs and Portugal 4hrs away. Most of the towns are linked by fast dual carriageway. You can even cross by ferry to Morocco. The old provincial centres of Archidona and Loja are less than 20 mins away. Car is nessesary
Directions to Cortijopiedra
Directions................ When leaving the airport take the Malaga road onto the Motorway A 45. Follow signs for Granada all the way until Junction 7 approx. (.50mins. ) (( Do not come off earlier even though it says Villa Neuva Del Trabuco.)
Leave the motorway and take a right towards Trabuco A7203. Follow the road until you come to Edwardo,s Restaurant. (4- 5min. ) on the right. Take a left opposite the restaurant and follow the road MA-4100 till you see Restaurant El Cortijuelo ( 3-4 mins ) on the left. Just before the restaurant you will see a small road on the left take this and follow the road up past five houses (on the road ) on the left, two you may only see the fencing, we are the 6th house on the left ( on the road ) with a small garden at the front with conifer trees and car park off the road , past the entrance to the cortijo ( 2 mins ) If you get lost give us a ring on 952 111 439 mobile 622 577 844 and we will come and meet you The map above will take you there but it is a little short. You need to go on another few meteres on the same road.
